The church and our hotel. Forges Les Eaux
Just one of millions of war graves

Very interesting page and some wonderful pictures. In WW II my late father was working behind enemy lines and was wounded, captured and escaped twice in the same day only when reaching French lines to be almost shot as a fifth coloumnist, Forges les Eaux was one of the places on his escapade. He at one time was taken to Rommel (unaware of who he was at the time), his view of him "a kind and chivalrous man." My father was awarded the Military Medal for this.

Thanks Nicolas Jouault - Jersey

Claude Monet's garden. Giverny, France.

The house overlooks the flower garden
Some of the colours are stunning
On the opposite side of the road is the famous water garden
View all 6 photos...
The house where the artist Monet spent his later years has been restored much as he would have known it, and is open to the public.

We visited there in early September

bravo! these look like paintings! Wed 26-Nov-2003 07:38

Slow journey to work today

I had to keep stopping to capture some images from the forest in Autumn. After a particularly dry and hot year the colours are just tremendous.

The column of steam is from the sugar beet plant.

Beautiful! I love the sunbeams and colors! Tue 2-Dec-2003 21:02

Fungus hunting in Thetford Forest

The sun slants through the trees
And the leaves that have turned colour drop to the floor
This was our haul, two edible ones amongst them
View all 6 photos...
An organised day, discovering which wild fungus are good to eat and which it is far better to stay away from.

As Autumn comes to this part of England some of the colours are brilliant

what a nice day,right? Mon 20-Oct-2003 05:46

Mont St Michel, Normandy, France

Viewed from Arromanches early evening
Viewed from on the Island the next day!
There are two ways to view Mont St Michel in the tourist season (early September). I know which I found preferable.

My father

Dad's the guy in the truck
Still haven't got the holiday images even started on the way to sorting.

In the meantime here's my Dad during WW2 driving a crash truck on an airfield in Canada.

This photo is really precious, you must be proud of your father. Tue 30-Sep-2003 16:11

Another one for the aviation freaks

Supermarine Spitfire & Piper Colt
Still haven't had time to sort the images from the recent trip to France, so in the meanwhile who'd like some pieces of aviation history. My forty year old Colt and a sixty-something year old Spitfire parked together. The lady pilot of the Spitfire didn't want to swop.

Looking forward to seeing the pics Sat 27-Sep-2003 01:13

My office

Tig's world
And me in mine
I went away on holiday, came back and my colleague Tig had supervised the doubling in size and re-equipping of our office. What a star!

How bright it is! Sat 27-Sep-2003 01:17
